We’re a ‘Social Enterprise’. This is a business which is created to further a social purpose in a financially stable way.
Our purpose is to ensure no children go to school hungry and with 25,000 that still do in NZ everyday, we’re committed to making a real difference in our community.
We have 45 paid employees (and growing) across the office and kitchen and we’re growing fast! If you’re keen to join us, check out latest opportunities on the careers page….
Volunteers who range from office workers, sports teams to CEO’s come in every morning and make & deliver the kid’s Give lunches. It’s a really special part of Eat My Lunch as we can welcome in everyone who wants to play a part and be part of something special. It must be a great feeling as we have a waitlist until Jan 2018!
Being a Social Enterprise allows us to be sustainable and grow as we don’t have to rely on donations. For example, it means we’ll never have to tell some kids that they wouldn’t be getting a lunch one week.
Social Enterprises are more prominent across the world but only really starting to gain an understanding and traction recently. For example, the UK has over 70,000 social enterprises, contributing 24billion pounds to the economy and employing a million people. (https://www.socialenterprise.org.uk/What-is-it-all-about)
